Corinda King

Corinda Rougeou King, age 91, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024. Born on September 7, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, Corinda lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community. Corinda was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, a doting grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother. She was married to her beloved husband, Norwood D. King, Jr., for 70 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories.

She is survived by her husband, Norwood; her children, Calvin N. King (and wife Carol), Linda Sue Gregory (and husband Louis), Louida C. Wooldridge, and Lorinda K. King; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Corinda was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Lucille Waters and Ernest Rougeou, her sister, Sadie Lou Coleman, and her granddaughter, Catherine Gregory.

Corinda graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas and attended Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University). Her career was as diverse as it was impactful, including roles at Bell Helicopter, Camp Wolter’s, and as the Executive Assistant to evangelist J Royce Thomason for 29 years and another 18 years taking care of The Voice in the Wilderness Missionary Foundation.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene. Corinda cherished her family and friends and enjoyed reading her Bible daily as well as playing card and board games.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from Noon to 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service, both at Waxahachie Bible Church, 621 N. Grand Ave, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. She will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Voice in the Wilderness Missionary Foundation, 2761 Howard Rd, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.

Corinda’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
