Clyde C. Lanier, 88, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 15, 2008. He was born June 4, 1919, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Clarence and Ruby (Madden) Lanier. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1938. He joined the 112th Cavalry in November 1940 and served for over 4 years in the South Pacific including: New Guinea, New Caledonia, New Britain and Australia. He was awarded Five Battle Stars, The Combat Infantry Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

He married Larue Triplett, June 21, 1946, in Waxahachie, Texas. He was a long time member of the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church. Mr. Lanier had been employed for 22 years with Carlisle Chevrolet and Kerr Glass for 19 years where he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, and playing dominoes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Larue Lanier of Waxahachie; sons, John R. Lanier and his wife Anne of Canton, MI., Brian Lanier and his wife Rechell of Waxahachie; daughter, Brenda Childress of Waxahachie; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and son-in-law.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church with Reverend Jan Baldwin officiating. Pallbearers will be Warren Howell, Dirk Howell, Terry O'Daniel, Howard O'Daniel, Jim O'Daniel and Alton O'Daniel. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Domino Players from the Nay Building. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
