Claudia Clonts

May 21, 1949 — October 3, 2017

Claudia Clonts was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She passed away at the young age of 68 on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

Born in Auburn, New York, she was always very proud to be a northerner. So much so that she would happily get into an argument on the proper pronunciation of words (especially pecan). She never adopted the regional language and tried her absolute best to ensure her children didn't either. But y'all know, ain't nobody perfect.

She graduated from Midlothian High School, joined the working force and just a few years later, on March 21, 1969, married Kenneth Clonts. This is where her worldly adventures began. She and Kenneth lived in Germany multiple times before returning to the states for the last year of Kenneth's 20 years of military service. While in Germany, they visited castles, salt mines and even went to Paris for her birthday. When it was time to retire, they wanted to be back near family, so they moved to Waxahachie, Texas.

Once they settled in, Claudia turned her passion for reading into a full-time career. She worked at the Nicholas P. Sims Library in Waxahachie for over 20 years where she was not only able to continue her love of books, but also try to influence younger generations to embrace a similar passion. When she wasn't reading, she was busy crocheting or taking care of the many plants that adorned the inside and outside of their home.

Another love was her love of animals. There wasn't a stray that was ever turned away and she always managed to spoil every dog, cat or fish that she ever owned.

"Claudia greatly enjoyed her four grandchildren, Macey Thompson and Greyson Clonts, Colton and Victoria Waple. One could even say she spoiled them at every opportunity (sometime just to spite her own children). She loved a good joke, even when she didn't get it. "

Claudia left this world way too early, and she will be missed dearly. She will forever be in our hearts. Her body has left this earth, but she will never be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Elizabeth Gary and survived by her husband Kenneth Clonts; their children - daughter, Amy and Rob Waple and son, Nicholas and Holly Clonts; and seven siblings and their families.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to Friends of Nicholas P. Sims Library, 515 West Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
