Cindy Lee Smith

February 4, 1964 — February 22, 2025

Cindy Sitz Smith, 61, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2025, at UT Southwestern Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family after a two-year battle with glioblastoma. Born on February 4, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, to Terry and Ruby Sitz, Cindy’s vibrant spirit and unwavering love for life touched everyone who knew her. She spent her childhood in Maypearl, Texas, where she was academically gifted and promoted early before moving to Waxahachie High School, where she became the youngest graduate in school history at just 16 years old. As a teenager, Cindy’s love for sunshine led her to work as a lifeguard at Lancaster Community Park, where her infectious energy and bright smile were a perfect fit. She later attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University) for several years, furthering her education and faith. Cindy was a loving mother to her daughter, Peyton Borders, and they shared a close bond, enjoying shopping trips, spontaneous adventures, and simply spending time together. She was also a devoted and proud grandmother to Ali and Barron Borders, who brought her immense joy and laughter. Cindy and her sister, Janet Rudolph, had a lifelong friendship built on love, laughter, and daily moments together. Living just a few houses apart, Cindy would often walk down the street to visit Janet almost every day, sharing cherished time together.

She built a successful career in the medical field, forming lifelong friendships at every job she had. Cindy worked at Baylor Waxahachie before becoming the Business Services Director at Corpus Christi Medical Center - Bay Area Hospital, where she worked for many years. She later returned to her hometown of Waxahachie, working at Medical City Arlington before coming full circle to Baylor Scott & White Texas Surgical Specialists, where she was grateful to serve her community once again.

She was known as a fashionista, always the best dressed wherever she went. A true Southern woman, she judged every restaurant by the quality of their sweet tea and was always on the go, embracing life with spontaneity and joy. Cindy was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, the person you could turn to in any situation for advice, encouragement, and a solution. Her carefree spirit and unwavering love for her family and the Lord defined her life. She was filled with so much faith and her love for Jesus was infectious to everyone she met.

Cindy is survived by her daughter Peyton Borders, and husband, Jordan Borders; her grandchildren, Ali and Barron Borders; loving parents, Terry and Ruby Sitz; her sister, Janet Rudolph, and brother-in-law, Craig Rudolph; her nephew, Chase Rudolph, and his wife, Bailey Rudolph; her nieces, Karsyn Woodall and Reign Rudolph; and her nephews, Levi Woodall and Rhen Rudolph, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.  She was preceded in death by her nephew, Aaron Jacob “AJ” Woodall, as well as her beloved grandparents, Nat “Ira” Jackson, Nora Jackson, Arthur Sitz, and Linda “Marie” Adams.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Waxahachie City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Cindy’s honor, benefiting cancer research. Cindy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and will never be forgotten.
