Chester Anglen

Chester Gayle Anglen June 08, 1939 November 01, 2011 Chester Gayle Anglen, 72 was born to Morris and Edwina Anglen on June 08, 1939 in Malta Bend, Missouri and went home to be with the Lord on November 01, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Following graduation from Borger High in 1957, he joined the United States Army under the "Buddy Plan" with childhood friends Leroy Powell and Charlie Fletcher. The trio completed their basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado. After a short time in Fort Knox, Kentucky, they were sent to Stuttgart, Germany. During his three years of military service, Chester obtained the rank of SP4 and was honorably discharged in December 1960. Following his service in the Army, Chester accepted the position of Circulation Manager with the Miami News Record in Miami, Oklahoma. He held that position for sixteen years where he increased circulation, established many programs for the carriers, and built comradery. As a husband and father, Chester worked his full time job and attended Northeastern Oklahoma College where he earned an Associates degree. He then attended Missouri Southern College where he earned his Bachelors degree in Business. In November of 1976, Chester moved to Waxahachie, Texas and worked as publisher of the Waxahachie Daily Light. He remained the publisher until December 1989 when the corporation was sold. His love of cars drove him to open Anglen Tire Company with his son Aaron in September 1989. He operated this business successfully for eighteen years until his retirement in November 2006. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time with his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy; four sons: Rick Dale Anglen and wife Rhonda of Piney Flats, TN; James Enos Russell and wife Audrey of Huntsville, AL; Aaron Dale Anglen and wife Barbara of Waxahachie, Texas and Joel Dean Anglen of Waxahachie. One daughter, Sherry Nanette Parton and husband Steve of Waxahachie, Texas. One sister, Margaret Axie Brock and husband Lowell of Amarillo, Tx., Grandchildren include: Ryan, Riley, Ross, Rachel, Raeanna, James, Jr., Jarrod, Jennifer, Jason, Mary, Ariel, Dalton, Laurie, Jimmy and Stephanie. Great Grandchildren include: Martin, Tyler, Alec, Eden, Michael and Lennon. Numerous relatives to include nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Friday, November 04, 2011 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 05, 2011 at the Waxahachie Bible Church, 621 North Grand Ave, Waxahachie, Texas. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Jimmy Russell, Jarrod Russell and Jason Anglen and longtime family friend Eddie Owens along with childhood friends Buddy Reese, Leroy Powell, Charlie Fletcher and Robert Shields. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society the Salvation Army or Meals on Wheels of Ellis County.
