Charlotte (Drake) Swinney McAdams
1935-2021
Charlotte (Drake) Swinney McAdams , 86 of Justin, TX, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in her sleep into the loving arms of Jesus. Charlotte was born in Waxahachie, Texas on January 3, 1935, to her parents, Harold and Lorena Drake.
Charlotte’s father was a military veteran and retired from a long career with the railroad. Her mother worked many jobs including furniture upholstery operating from the families’ garage/shop.
Charlotte married Edker Earl Swinney in 1950 and remained married for over 50 years until Earl‘s passing in 2002. Their union welcomed five children they loved and adored. Despite her large family Charlotte always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family. She and Earl worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids and grandkids. They encouraged and supported the kid’s extracurricular activities. Charlotte and Earl loved sports and played fast pitch softball as young parents.
A lifelong Texan native, Charlotte was well-loved in her small town.
Charlotte worked many secretarial and retail jobs over the years. Many of you may remember purchasing floral arrangements from her at Eubanks Florist. She was the successful owner/operator of the Texas T-Shirt shop in Waxahachie for many years.
After Earl passed away, she married Will McAdams. Will preceded her in death in 2018 after 15 years of marriage.
Charlotte was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Lorena Drake, first husband Earl Swinney and late husband Will McAdams.
Those left to cherish her memories are her beloved children. Malcolm Swinney and wife Terry of League City; Marcia Hatfield and husband David of Mesquite; Marla Beets of Waxahachie; Melinda Cloud and husband Don of Justin; Melissa Antekelian and husband Mike of Keller.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Also, survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. They invite you to join them for a homegoing service.
The family will receive friends and family Sunday, May 23 from 1-4 pm. The service will be Monday, May 24 at 10 am. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park Cemetery.
Both events will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. 287 Business, Waxahachie, Texas.
