Charlotte Beth (Lee) Bratcher, aged 79, went to her heavenly home on September 22, 2022, while on hospice for heart failure in Waxahachie, Texas. Born in California during World War II, Charlotte came from generations of Texans, was raised in Gaines County, Texas, and resided with her beloved husband in Waxahachie for nearly 60 years.
Charlotte successfully battled lobular breast cancer for over 12 years, and was always willing to move alongside others to offer support and encouragement upon a new cancer diagnosis.
Although she taught sophomore English at Waxahachie High School for only two years, she took great joy in keeping in touch with former students over the past 50 years, many of whom became close friends.
Charlotte spent countless hours in service as a volunteer librarian at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, where she served for nearly 20 years, cataloging books using the Dewey Decimal System, assisting people with making memorial book donations, and making everyone feel welcome when they stepped through the door. Her time there was a labor of love, and she enjoyed helping both young and old select the perfect book for their enjoyment.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Alan (Al) Bratcher of Waxahachie; her daughter, Melinda Bratcher Doe and husband Douglas of Edmond, Oklahoma; her two grandchildren, Matthew and Abby Floyd of Tyler, Texas; and her sister, Judith Hanes and husband Keith of New Braunfels, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations for local charitable purposes be made to:
