Charlie Brewer

C.A. " Afton " Brewer passed away July 07, 2013 in Waxahachie. Afton was born of January 18, 1923 in Sardis, Texas and grew up with five brothers; Dude, Mutt, Clayt, Morris and Quillen and two sister; Juanita and Doris. He served in the US Navy during World War II and upon returning from the war married Nola Box, April 26, 1947. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Afton established C.A. Plumbing Company in the early 1960s and worked until his retirement in the mid-1990s. He was a lifelong member of the Downtown Men's Bible Class and a member of the Waxahachie Optimist Club for many years. Afton is survived by daughter; Kathy Brewer of Waxahachie, daughter Carol Houghton and son in law Mike of Abilene, TX. Grandson, Seth Houghton and wife Hayli of Abilene, TX. Granddaughter: Lesleigh Houghton and great granddaughter Jazlyn of Brownwood, Texas; Sister in law and brother in law Pauline and James Stroope of Conroe , Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nola and infant daughter Sharon. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Sardis Cemetery in Sardis, Texas with Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA of Ellis County. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
