Charles "Charlie" Donald Timmermann - husband, dad, Papa, and friend - passed away at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, TX, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Charlie was born to Charles and Bertha Timmermann in Breese, IL, on September 2, 1944. He graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1962. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and became a loadmaster. When he left the military, he began his 40-year career in IT as a systems programmer. Two of his most memorable experiences were developing the first ATM for Mercantile Bank in St. Luis and working on the computer system in a space shuttle while working for McDonald Douglas.
Charlie and Debbie were married on September 11, 1982. They had two children, Kate and Nick, which were Charlie's greatest joy. He loved playing ball with Nick in the backyard and going to all his ball games, from playing t-ball at the age of 4 through playing for the Waxahachie Indians. He and Nick spent many hours watching major league and college baseball and the Dallas Stars. Charlie did not miss one of Kate's activities, including swimming, band performances, or theater performances. He was very proud of all her accomplishments and loved watching her be a wonderful mother to Makayla and Morgan.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, playing and watching baseball, golf, playing cards, and woodworking. He loved visiting St. Louis to watch his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Charlie and Debbie have called Waxahachie home for 40 years. Charlie was a charter member of Council 8417 of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He was a Knight for 60 years. Charlie was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered at Campfire Creek. Charlie was a good and loyal friend to those fortunate enough to know him.
Charlie loved being a Papa to Makayla and Morgan. They spent many hours playing outside and making things out of wood in Papa's shed. Charlie was very excited for Nick and Amanda, who will have a son, Nolan, in January, and that he was going to have another granddaughter, Aubrey.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ralph, and sisters, Rita Taylor and Mary Kuhl. He is survived by his wife Debbie, children Kate Saltzman and husband Ted, Nick and wife Amanda, grandchildren Makayla, Morgan, Aubrey, and Nolan, brothers Donnie, Tom, Rich and wife Susie, and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Charlie and his nephew Steve, and in honor of his niece, Marcia to the Miracle League of Ellis County at 100 YMCA drive Waxahachie, Tx 75165.
