Charles Steven "Steve" Fincher
November 3, 1943 – January 15, 2025
Charles Steven "Steve" Fincher was born on November 3, 1943, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Marshall and Ernestine Johnson Fincher. He left this earth to join Jesus and his beloved wife, Judy, in eternal life on January 15, 2025.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Gollott Fincher; his parents, Marshall and Ernestine Fincher of Waxahachie, TX; his mother and father-in-law, Sarah and Herschel Gollott of Freeport, TX; and dear friends Buzz and Kay Clarkson of Grand Prairie, TX.
He is survived by his son, Todd Fincher, and his wife, Melynnie Nehib, of Lake Kiowa, TX; his son, Ryan Fincher, and his wife, Carla Fincher, of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and his cherished grandsons, Cayson and Chandler Fincher. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Fincher, and his wife, Beth; his sister, Marsha Kaye Fincher; his sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Ronnie Green; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Steve was born, raised, and baptized at Water Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Stagecoach Cowboy Church. Growing up across the street from the Optimist Baseball fields, his love for baseball started at an early age. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1962, where he lettered in both football and baseball, and continued his education at Sam Houston State University, where he met the love of his life, Judy.
Steve, Judy, and their sons lived in Grand Prairie, TX, from 1972 until 2000, when he returned to his hometown of Waxahachie. His career primarily focused on the electronics and defense industries, with positions at LTV, Teccor Electronics, and MACOM. During his tenure at MACOM, he contributed to the HARM missile program, an air-to-surface, anti-radar missile used in both Persian Gulf wars in the 1990s and various global conflicts.
Upon returning to Waxahachie, Steve worked for Waxahachie ISD and reconnected with many high school friends, forming a close-knit group called HF3. Together, they enjoyed annual dove hunting trips in September and spring excursions to the ranch for fishing and deer feeder maintenance.
Steve was a dedicated member of the Oddfellows, serving as both Chaplain and the group's cook. He also found great joy in his Friday visits to "The Pub" in Waxahachie with his brother and friends, where he enjoyed catfish, a beer (or sometimes a Bloody Mary), and the company of the owners and staff, whom he considered family.
Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, jokes, laughter, and unwavering friendship will remain in the hearts of those he touched.
