Charles Demoney

Charles "Chuck" Demoney, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. He was born January 18, 1939 in Fairplay, CO to Charles and Alice Demoney. Chuck led a distinguished 40 year career in the airline industry rising from the position of ramp agent with Frontier Airlines in Denver, CO to President and CEO of MGM Grand Air in Los Angeles, CA. He and his wife Judy retired to Waxahachie in 1993 to be near her mother and family. Retirement didn't last long as they purchased Gift Baskets, Etc. and the historic Hancock Building which he enjoyed renovating and bringing back to its former beauty. Chuck loved his community and enjoyed giving back through his countless hours of volunteering. He served as President of Waxahachie Foundation and Rotary Club; Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Capital Expansion Campaign and Downtown Merchants Assoc.; Co-Chair of the Courthouse Centennial Celebration; Board Member of the YMCA, Hope Clinic, United Way and Partners in Education; recipient of the Mabel Frame Award and YMCA Member of the Year, Dallas area. He was a member First United Methodist Church and Builders Sunday School Class. He is survived by Judy, his beloved wife of 28 years; his children, Jennifer of Phoenix, AZ, Jim and wife, Violetta of Phoenix, AZ, Chip and wife Amber of Bozeman, MT and Autumn and husband, Scott of Denver, CO; two sisters, Beverly Stewart and Connie Slaven of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Kara, Jimmy, Sydney, Brooklyn, Jackie and Artur; great grandchildren, Tatum, Connor and Braiden; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jan and Buddy Banks of Waxahachie; nieces and nephews, Diane and Jack Franks, Beth and Bryan Johnson, Amy and Shane Leath, John and Amber Banks, Jim and Jennifer Banks and their families, all of Waxahachie. He is also survived by his precious furry companions Sophie and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Betty, Mae, Anne, Verna and Frieda. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. In further honor of Chuck, donations are welcome to the Ellis County SPCA and First United Methodist Church. Chuck wrote a book about his family entitled "Fairplay" and on the cover was this quote about his life: "The name of the town of my birth perhaps best describes the way the world has treated me.
