Charles Knowles Bird of Waxahachie, born July 23, 1935 in Duluth, Minnesota passed peacefully into the arms of the lord on Sunday April 3, 2022 surrounded by family at the age of 86.
Charles married the love of his life, Clare McElhenny on August 1, 1959 in Scranton, Pennsylvania while stationed in the Army, after being honorably discharged from the Army he and his wife moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where he went to work for General Mills as a salesman. He moved to Waxahachie with his family in 1972 where he worked for Sears for 10 years. He went on to own and operate his own business for 20 years known as Birds Radiator in Waxahachie, Texas.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Knowles & Margaret Bird, Brothers Dwight S. Bird and Herschel H. Bird, and Sister Faith Cheng.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years Clare Bird of Waxahachie, TX , his brother Tom Bird and wife Pat of Houston, TX his son Dwight Bird and wife Mi-Hayang of Taegu , South Korea; his son Scott Bird and wife Sylvia of Ennis, TX; his Daughter Stacey Bird-Osbourn of Waxahachie, TX. Granddaughters Hannah Andrews of Athens, TX; Haleigh Osbourn of Waxahachie, TX; Pam Cooper of Ennis, TX. Grandsons Blake Osbourn of Denison, TX; Clint Cooper of Ennis, TX. Great-grandchildren Solsya, Ada, Jessie, Hope, Faith, Andrew, Kayleigh, and Dylan.
He was best known for his big personality, and huge love for laughter. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.
