C.D. Adkins

Junie Adkins, 84 of Waxahachie, passed from this life on Thursday, November 20, 2014 and entered the heavenly vale into the arms of his Savior. Junie was born Saturday, November 23, 1929 in Forreston, Texas to the late Cader Dell Adkins and Nettie Elizabeth Appling Adkins. Junie was an active member of the South Prong Baptist Church in Waxahachie from 1962 until 1959 when he moved to the country to farm the land his Family had previously farmed. He became a member of The Cowboy Church of Waxahachie about 6 years ago until he was unable to attend. He believed in Jesus Christ as his savior, God and the Holy Spirit. In his youth he was a champion bull rider and won a new 1953 red pick-up as a prize. He worked at Chance-Vought (now LTV) for a few years before going into the farming business, and worked as a truck driver in his off time for Tyler Refrigeration and another trucking business. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty three years, Mildred Ann Kelley Adkins, a daughter, Belinda Nan Adkins, a son, Michael Temp Adkins, son in-law, Terry Gregory, a great granddaughter, Lily Renee James; his brothers, V.C. Adkins, Thurman Adkins, Herman Adkins, Glen Adkins, William Grey Adkins and John Bunyan Adkins; also by his sisters, Elizabeth Brown and Mary Alice Chaney. Daddy, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, care and work you gave to us. Thank you for raising us with great care to know the difference between right and wrong and being a Christian example in your speech and ethics, your loving daughters, Pat Adkins Gregory and Laura Adkins James; also survived by his son-in-law, Charlie Joe James; daughter in-law, Kay Adkins; his sister, Carolyn Arnold; his brother, Charles Ivan Adkins; and also by a special friend and caregiver, Janet Gilchrist. The grandchildren, Casey Gregory, Erik Shane James and wife, Jenny Rebecca, Patrick Dean Gregory, Joseph Michael James and wife, Amanda Ruth, Laura Leeanne Kepley and her husband, David, Charlie Jessica Lyles and her husband, Stan, Matthew Temp Adkins and family, Michael Chad Adkins and families and Robin Adkins Sauls and family, would like to express their gratitude and blessings in life by their Grandpa and Grandma; he is also survived by his great grandchildren, Sydney Rebecca and Emelia Claire James; Ethan and Tyler Gregory, Harrison and Max Kepley, Erik Shepherd James, Jack Alvin Lyles, Michael and Mikayla Adkins and Riley (Robin's Son) Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for Noon on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forreston Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday and will last until service time.
