Carolyn Osborn

November 18, 1938 — July 13, 2018

Carolyn Osborn, 79, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away in Waxahachie on Friday, July 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lamesa, Texas, on November 18, 1938.

If you ever heard Carolyn's giggle, you wouldn't forget it. It was vibrant, infectious, and most likely to be heard any time she was in the company of her mother and sisters. She enjoyed playing the piano and her pastimes included reading a good book-especially when on vacation in Galveston-going on long drives, adding to her much-loved collection of shoes, keeping her weekly hair appointments, making frequent appearances at her favorite restaurants, and reminding friends and family of the time she attempted to flag down Elvis' Cadillac with her broom while living near Fort Hood. In the face of many obstacles experienced over the course of her life, Carolyn was known for her resilient spirit and generous nature. In June of 2018 she celebrated 63 years of marriage to her husband, Randall Osborn. She served as the church secretary at Farley Street Baptist, where she was a life-long member. Professionally, Carolyn pioneered the way for women in insurance when she was distinguished as the first woman insurance agent in Waxahachie for Employers Insurance of Texas, as well as one of the first female insurance professionals in the entire state of Texas. In keeping with her certification as a Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter, she was known for her cautionary tales and frequent admonitions to family that went something along the lines of, "Be careful, you might break your neck!" Perhaps that is why she is survived by such a large extended family, all of whom remember her with much love and affection.

She is survived by her husband, Randall Osborn of Waxahachie; son Stephen and his wife, Louise, of Bryson; son Keith and his wife, Ann, of Dallas; son Charles of Waxahachie; daughter Robin Willett and her husband, Jason, of Waxahachie; brother Jimmy Haney and sister-in-law, Judy, of Waxahachie; step-brother Jack Shockey and his wife, Sally, of Dallas; half-sister Rene Haney of Mansfield; brother-in-law Jerry Davis; and also by her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Osborn Jr., Tammy Foster, Matthew Osborn, Jonathan Osborn, Karley Kiker, Audrey Willett, Camille Willett, Judson Willett, Tori Osborn, Jack Osborn, as well as nine great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Shockey, and her step-father, Jack; her father, Floyd Haney; her sister, Bernice Davis; and also by her granddaughters, Stacia Osborn and Whitney Kate Osborn.

Services to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Farley Street Baptist Church, Waxahachie, with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park, Waxahachie.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Farley Street Baptist Church (1116 Brown St., Waxahachie, TX 75165) in care of the Carolyn Osborn Fund. Contributions will be directed toward Memory Care Sitters in thanks and gratefulness for the care they provide.
