Carl Lee Burns passed away peacefully Thursday December 9, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Carl was born to Ruby LaDonna Davis Burns and Cecil Walker Burns on July 10, 1936 at home in Whitt, Texas. They both preceded him in death. He received his funeral directors license and made a lifetime career in the funeral business. Carl served in the Army Mortuary Service and in a tank division, serving in Texas and Germany.
Carl leaves behind his loving wife, Jonette Whitener Burns. He has one child, BeLinda Lee Burns Hastedt (husband Stuart) and grandchildren Taylor Whitfield (wife Lauren), Addison Jo, and Cullen Lee Hastedt. He is also loved deeply by his stepchildren, Janella Dunning (husband Steve), Jon Moore (partner Tony Duran), James Moore (wife Lori), and Julie Gryder (husband David), grandchildren Julian and Savana Dunning, Blake and Kylee Moore (and Breja Williams), Kip Moore, Kolton (and Danielle), Kody, and Kady Gryder, great grandchild, Everlee Gryder. Carl had a deep love for traveling, eating good barbecue, and talking to people.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21st, from 6-8 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 22nd, at the DFW National Cemetery at 10 am.
