Carl Graham Ballard was called home to heaven May 19, 2009 after a brief illness.
Carl was born in Waxahachie on January 18, 1927 to Ora Lea Derden Sandeford and William McKinley Ballard both deceased. He attended school at Bee Creek and Forreston and was a lifetime resident of Ellis County.

Carl was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Seabolt and brother-in-law J.H. Seabolt. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Bill and Frances Ballard of Forreston, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Johnie and Thomas Williams of Montana, Faye and David Ferguson of Fort Worth and Ann and Norman Eggleston of Forreston.

He was married in 1949 to the love of his life, Lola May Smithwick. They shared over 60 years together raising four children. He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Fred and Mary Lou Ballard, Allen and Debbie Ballard and his daughters Catherine Scott and Lora Adams all residing in Ellis County. He has ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Carl joined the U S Navy when he was 17 years old and served as a medic in WWII in the Aleutian Islands and the Pacific. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad for over thirty six years. Carl was active in church all his life where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon at the Forreston Baptist Church. He loved life and the simple pleasures. He was a devoted husband, father and friend and will be missed by all.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 20, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10 AM in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home.
