Burns Mitchell

Burns Littleton Mitchell, 92 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born in Rockwall, Texas on November 26, 1921 to the late William Delbert and Willie Ethel Turk Mitchell. Burns attended schools in Waxahachie and then served in WWII in the Army Air Corp and received the American Theatre Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. After the war he worked at Larkin Products Inc. until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church and was a member of the Waxahachie Masonic Lodge # 90-Ancient & Accepted and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary-32 degree Dallas Temple. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. He is survived by 1 Son & Daughter in Law: Jimmy L. & Linda Hitt Mitchell of Waxahachie; 1 Daughter: Beth A. Lentz of Waxahachie, Texas; 1 Sister In Law: Hazel Mitchell of Waxahachie, 2 Grandchildren: Justin & Eric and Ayla (Granddaughter-in-law) Lentz and 3 Step-Grandchildren: Brian & Richard Lentz, Jon Boyd; 1 Great Grand Daughter: JoAnna Lentz. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joy Thompson Mitchell in 1996 and 1 Brother: William D. Mitchell. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Waxahachie. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The family would appreciate all donations be made to the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church in Waxahachie in Burn's name.
