Bonnie Bell Hardwick, age 90, passed away on March 29, 2019.
Bonnie was born on November 16, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Lucille and Ernest Brown. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School and married Vernon Hardwick on July 4, 1947. Bonnie and Vernon raised a son and twin daughters. Looking at Bonnie’s petite frame and sparkling blue eyes, you would never imagine she held a commercial driver’s license and drove an 18-wheeler with her husband Vernon. For many years, Bonnie and Vernon owned “Hardwick’s Cycle”, a well-known motorcycle shop in Dallas.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Hardwick; her son Bentley Hardwick; her grandson Matthew Greenwood; and her brothers, Jerry H. Brown, Ernest L. Brown, and Floyd L. Brown.
Bonnie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl & Steve Johnston; Carol & Ronnie Vance; former son-in-law for many years, Floyd Greenwood; three grandchildren, Jeff Vance, Beverly Greenwood-Berrett and Greg Vance; and numerous great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Bonnie was a strong independent lady and a faithful Christian. She and Vernon loved Colorado and enjoyed living in a log cabin they built in Salida, Colorado. In later years, she lived in Midlothian. Bonnie and Carol both loved and enjoyed the art of quilting and spent time together in past years working on this craft. Bonnie enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch at a local restaurant, reading (especially her Bible), watching her favorite television show “Everybody Loves Raymond” and following politics. She also very much enjoyed her son-in-law, Steve, frequently visiting and bringing her any meal and/or treat that she desired, especially the strawberry-banana smoothies.
Bonnie will be missed by so many who loved and respected her.
