Bobby R. Hooper, age 77

September 18, 2006

Mr. Hooper passed away Monday at Pleasant Manor Healthcare Center in Waxahachie. He was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to Cyril and Winnie Wayne Shiflet. His father passed away when he was 7 years old. His mother married Morgan B. Hooper who adopted him. Bobby graduated from Norman High School, received his degrees from Oklahoma University and his Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University. He served in Korea with the US Army 5th Armored Division. Bobby was a wildlife Biologist in New Mexico and Arizona, worked in Public Health in Michigan and was a farmer in Oklahoma. He married Vera P. Himes March 3, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He is survived by daughters, Robie Carnes and husband Rodney of Portage, Michigan, Paula Hicks and husband John of Waxahachie; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Varna Hooper of Jenx, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Gayle and Dr. Bob Case of Winter Park, Florida; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, adoptive father, and wife, Vera P. Hooper, in January 2006.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Fred Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the DFW National Cemetery, Dallas.
