Mrs. Bass passed away Friday morning at Renfro Living Center. She was born in Hardneck (near Frost), TX. to William Simpson and Mary Annie (Whitfield) Hassell. She married Munsey Bass January 30, 1930 in Durant, OK. She was a loving and faithful wife to Munsey. She helped from Opti Mrs. Club and was president in 1947; was a member of the Century Club and Waxahachie Garden Club. Mrs. Bass was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Waxahachie. She served faithfully in Children's divisions and taught Sunday School Children's divisions, was active in UMW, was Senior Girl Scout Leader for four years. She also sang with the Joy Singers of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bass is survived by two nieces, Jo Johnson of Waxahachie and Dorothy Jean Goodloe of Red Oak and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Munsey; six brothers, one sister and one niece.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM, Monday, July 14, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Hassell, Melvin Hassell, Bob Dyess, Robert Dyess, Kenneth Hassell, Jonathan Dyess.. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park in Waxahachie
