Billy Bob “Cotton” Stewart, 80, of Waxahachie, passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Dementia. He was born November 16, 1938 in Bardwell, TX, to Orbra L. and Corrie C. (Snipes) Stewart. He graduated from Bardwell High School in 1957. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in 2003 after 45 years of service which included serving two years in the United States Army in Germany.
His hobbies consisted of playing dominos, cards and checkers, as long as he won; in which always won!
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ella Jane Gilmore and his brother James Thomas (JT) Stewart, two nieces, and one nephew.
He is survived by his wife for 53 years, Joyce Phillips Stewart; children Jack Stewart (Kristina), Diane Swanson (Scott Sanders) and Debra Haught; grandchildren Kim Gerich (Shaun), Forrest Swanson, Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Haught (Ashley), Savannah Stewart and Austin Stewart; great grandson Maxwell Haught.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at 10am, Monday, December 17, 2018, in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Chaplain Jerry Bloomfield officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie. Visitation with the family is scheduled from 6-8pm Sunday, December 16, 2018.
