Bill J. Walker, Sr., age 78, passed away at his home in Waxahachie, TX, surrounded by his family, on August 2, 2018, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born June 20, 1940 in Newton County, TX to Lyndon Dewey and Vera Viola (Smith) Walker. He attended high school in Warren, TX where he played football and basketball, and most importantly met the beautiful love of his life, Joanne Elizabeth McNeely, who he married July 11, 1959 in Kountze, TX. In 1960 they moved to El Paso, TX, where they started their family, and where he and his brother and lifetime best friend, Bobby Walker, began their business, Tre-Pol, Inc., which they owned and operated 50 years and made many innovations to the molding and millwork industry. God blessed that company and allowed them to bless so many others, and to be part of ministries and church planting all over the world. Bill had a beautiful baritone voice and loved to sing to entertain, to lead worship, and to minister. He loved (and often quit) golf, and in his younger years was the best free- throw shooter in the Upper Valley. He also had a long running competition with his brother Bobby to see who could grow the best tomatoes in that desert soil. The most important thing in Bill's life was his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He spent the early morning hours every day reading his Bible and praying, until he could no longer do that. He loved his family more than his own life.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joanne; 3 children, Sonia (Demetre) Koutros, Billy Walker, Jr., and Keith (Anna) Walker; 7 grandchildren, Konstance (Colin) Thompson, Jessica Walker, Micah (Danielle) Koutros, Joshua Walker, Whitney Walker, Keith "Cinco" Walker, and Barbara Walker; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Fred Walker and Bobby Walker; sister Jenoma Farr; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother L.D. Walker, and his sister Jimada Green. A celebration of Bill's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Bill's honor to Charlie's Lunch Ministries or to Heart For The World Ministries Las Cruces NM.
There will be a Memorial Service at a later date which will be posted.
