Billy Ray Hickman, age 69
March 30, 1934
June 25, 2003

Mr. Hickman, a lifelong Waxahachie resident passed away Wednesday at Baylor Ellis County. He was born in Waxahachie to Wesley Dunlap and Margaree (Smith) Hickman. He was a member of the Farley Street Baptist Church and the Whataburger Coffee Club. After attending Waxahachie schools, Mr. Hickman joined the US Navy in 1952, was honorably discharged in 1956 and served eight years in the Reserves. He married Eula Emily Pruitt on January 26, 1957; they were married forty two years. He was employed with Owens Corning Fiberglass 1963-1989, retiring after 27 years.

Mr. Hickman is survived by: one son, DeWayne Hickman of Waxahachie; one daughter, Sheila Blalack and her husband Ken of Waxahachie; three sisters, Sissy Huston of Dublin, Linda Freeman of Garland and Dorothy Wallace of Austin; and one granddaughter, Emily Blalack of Waxahachie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Eula in 1999.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 11 AM Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Farley Street Baptist Church with Reverend Don Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Huston, Keith Huston, Jeff Huston, Ron Freeman, Larry Hickman and Phillip Hickman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Brock, Connie Wylie, Buck Terry, Jimmy Oglesby, Walter Braxmier, Bill Park, Allen Marshall and Pat McDonald. Interment will follow at Red Oak Cemetery.
