Billy George (Bill G) Dyess, age 85 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Waxahachie, Texas.
Bill graduated as salutatorian from Bardwell High School in 1954. While in high school he worked at the downtown Dairy Queen in Ennis. He later became a printing pressman for Ennis Business Forms. 1n 1999, Bill retired after 45 years. As president, he represented the Local Printing Union in many negotiations for the Graphic Communication International Union, Local (439). Bill traveled frequently due to the various positions he held in multiple regional and national union organizations which include Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Bill was a member of the I.O.O.F Lodge in Ennis. Following his retirement from Ennis Business Forms, he received his commission through Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis to serve in the Mission Service Corp with his wife, Marie. They served in seven counties in Texas. Bill was not only an avid reader but also loved to do woodwork. He especially loved building rocking horses, doll highchairs and “grasshopper swings”. Bill built the dining room table and multiple pieces of furniture for their first home. He even built a small boat that he launched as “The Merry Marie”. He actively attended Baylor Baptist Church for more than 20 years. After moving into a country home nearer to Waxahachie, he joined First Baptist Church and became a member of the Genesis Bible Study class.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Hazel Cheshier Dyess, his infant brother Roy Lavon, and son Leland Wayne Dyess. He is survived by his wife Marie of 68 years; sister Katherine Louise Sims; children Karen Blazek (Martin); Terri Tyner (Greg); Justin Dyess (Sandy); Grandchildren Bryan Bradshaw, Kalieth and Gideon Dyess: Jennifer Blazek, Jason Blazek (Amanda), Matthew Mosley, Melissa Eckeberger (Paul), David Tyner (Donnielle), Bradley Tyner (Kelli), Lori Ann Gunn (Matt), Ashtin and Savannah Rostetter, twenty great-grandchildren and many loving relatives.
