Bill G. Wittie, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with ALS.
Bill was a WWII Navy Veteran who served in the Pacific theater as a Bosn'Mate 1st class. He worked a number of years in the oil fields before retiring from Ft. Worth Pipe and Supply in 1983. After retirement he worked for BML Oil Company for a number of years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Jean, of 61 years; son Lee Roy and wife Sandy Wittie; two daughters Carrolyn and husband Rick Johnson, and Brenda and husband Donnie Aston; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers Ed and Jack Wittie; sisters-in-law Zena and Kathy Wittie and beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Mitchell Wittie; his parents E.O. and Lula Mae Wittie; two brothers, Joe and Wayne Wittie; beloved mother-in-law, Alene Hollingsworth; and beloved sister-in-law, Betty Wittie.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Red Oak Funeral Home. A second visitation will be 1-3 PM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, TX., with graveside services at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Chapel services pending inclement weather.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association for ALS Research, 1231 Greenway Dr., Suite 270, Irving, TX. 75038.
