Billie Jean Daugaard, 89, returned to her eternal home on December 11, 2021. Born in Italy, TX on April 6, 1932, she had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel and culture which took her all over the world. She appreciated art and worked in several mediums, her favorite being oil painting.
Billie lived a life of service, to God, country, and family. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist. She loved children and taught Sunday school for over 50 years. Billie worked in Civil Service supporting military operations globally for over 50 years as well. Her efforts were recognized repeatedly, and she was respected by the military community. Billie raised three generations of Daugaard’s. She valued education, hard work, perseverance, and resiliency which are key to her legacy.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel Smithwick and Lillie Richardson, son, Dennis Wayne Daugaard, granddaughter, Soni Nicole Daugaard, and siblings Joe Smithwick and Lou Segler. She is survived by son, Danny Joe Daugaard and wife Noreen Daugaard; and granddaughters, Deanna O’Sullivan and husband Jerry O’Sullivan, Dawn Lohr and husband Tom Lohr, Tava Peralta and husband Bela Peralta, and Danyel Perry. She has 8 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
