Betty Vanwart

On Monday, July 22, 2019, Betty Royce Van Wart, loving wife and mother of eight children, passed away at home at the age of 87.

Betty was born March 3, 1932, in Alhambra, CA., to Elbert L. and Marie E. Lane.  She graduated from Santa Anna High School before marrying Marine, John Henry Van Wart from Dallas, Texas, on September 11, 1950, in Yuma, AZ.  Together they had eight children: John, Thomas, Lengel, Patricia, Nadine, Charles, Ruth and Ramona.

Besides being a loving mother and patient caring home maker, she served in her church, enjoyed sewing and cooking, and loved being with her grandchildren as much as she could.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a very infectious smile, despite   raising seven active children.

Being blessed with thirty-five grandchildren, eighty-eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, Betty loved her extended family of nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Elbert, her mother, Marie, stepfather, Hollis B. Carr, her older sister Nadine Marie Gallagher Witt, her sons John Anson and Charles,  granddaughter, April (Anderson) Roper, great-great grandson, Jonathon Van Wart, as well has her husband of 61 years, John Henry.  She is survived by children Thomas, Lengel, Patricia, Virginia, Ruth and Ramona along with two sisters Helen Louise Oliver and Erma Elizabeth Hoscoe.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Dale Hughes officiating.  Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
