Betty Jo Brigman, 57, was called home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Betty was born April 2, 1953 in Austin, TX to Clovis and Mary Willhelm. She moved to Maypearl, TX with her family, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, David Lee Brigman. David and Betty had three daughters and eventually seven grandchildren. Betty was best known as a sweet and shy woman. She was soft-spoken but was filled with overflowing love for all those closest to her. Betty had a smile that out shown the sun. She was a portrait of a true lady, equally strong and gentle. Whether she was being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, or nana, she always knew how to to make someone feel special. Betty had a gift for spreading her love evenly, where no one ever felt left out or slighted. She may not have had much to say but her carefully chosen words were always the right ones. Betty was a tireless woman. She and David raised their girls to exude gentle spirits while being strong independent women. Betty was a mother that knew that a kind word carries much weight and she never ran short on making sure her daughters knew they were each loved for their own attributes. Betty's true calling came when she became a grandmother. She had seven grandchildren that looked up to her and to each one she was a best friend. She took the time to play, listen, and hug each child from the day they were born. They called her Nana, and Nana was the favorite for every grandchild. There was only one other that Betty loved more. Betty began a strong relationship with her Lord, as a small girl. Her faith only grew as she matured. Through her trials, Jesus Christ has carried Betty and comforted her, and now has brought her home. She has been removed from pain and sorrow, and has been fully restored in Heaven. She would want most, that through her life, others could see her faith and be drawn to come closer to the Lord. Betty is preceded in death by her father, Clovis Chester Willhelm, of Maypearl, TX, and nephew, Dustin Dobbs Smith, of Arlington, TX. She is survived by her loving husband, David Brigman of Maypearl, TX, her mother, Mary Willhelm Johnson of Lampasas, TX, daughters, Kaysie Hosiner and husband, Shelby of Waxahachie, TX, Amy Johnson and husband, Michael of Spring, TX, and Davie Kujawa and husband, Willd of Waxahachie, TX. She remains the beloved Nana to her grandchildren: Nate, Ethan, Emerie, Eliza, Wyatt, Coy, and Cass. Private services were held under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie. A memorial fund in Betty's name has been set up through the Cowboy Bank, PO Box 90, Maypearl, TX 76064 (Attn: Brandon Vaughan). All donations will be to benefit the Children's Cancer Ward at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
