Margaret ‘Betty' Blakemore, age 81

Mrs. Blakemore passed away Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Arlington. She was born in Greenville, TX. to Ross R. and Willette (Pennington) Wylie. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1940, then married James E. Blakemore March 20, 1942 also in Greenville. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by: son, William Ross "Bill" Blakemore and his wife Shirley of Jackson, MI.; daughter, Barbara Prather and husband Craig of Arlington; sister, Rose Mary Roberts of Temple, TX.; grandchildren, Scott and Bobbie Blakemore, Bethany Blakemore, Joy and Fernando DeVelasco, Joel and Reagan Prather, Jennifer Prather and Jessica Prather; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked as a team with her husband Blake to encourage the youth through the Optimist Club and MYF programs. Betty enjoyed traveling with Blake and then later with friends. She was a true friend to many people. Her loyal, supportive role as a quiet advocate and champion of her family will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin, Waxahachie with Dr. Craig Prather and Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Pearman, James Lewis, Bill Lindsey, Melvin Loveless, Scott Blakemore, Joel Prather, Fernando DeVelasco and Don Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fidelis Sunday School Class members. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park.
