Bessie Lee Wimbish, age 82

Ms. Bessie Lee Wimbish, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away early Thursday morning at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Italy. She was born in Milford, Texas to Paul Alexander and Bessie Allen (Crawford) Wimbish. A graduate of Milford High School, Ms. Wimbish received her BS from North Texas University and her Masters from Baylor University. She taught school at Mertens, Ferris, Milford, Bynum, Itasca and Hillsboro; was the Women's basketball coach at Mertens, Ferris, Bynum and Milford; was an avid golfer and a member of the Hillsboro Country Club. Ms. Wimbish loved animals from cats to horses. She traveled nationwide, enjoying science and biology and was influential in encouraging several students to become doctors. She was the caregiver for her mother, was an artist, and loved woodcarving. She was a member of the Italy Church of Christ.

Her survivors are five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-8 PM Friday at the Italy Church of Christ. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Saturday, February 17, 2007 also at the Church with Walter Buchanan officiating. Pallbearers will be Kurt Holman, Brian Ford, David Michael Ford, Troy Thompson, Bobby Wallace Crabtree, John Wimbish, and Gregg Wimbish. Interment will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
