Bessie Catherine Compton, age 93
November 18, 1912
June 19, 2006

Mrs. Compton, lifelong Ellis County resident, passed away Monday morning at Renfro Health and Rehab. She was born in Milford to Willard and Bell (Combs) Cook. A graduate of Milford High School, Bessie married Charlie Compton July 7, 1953 in Dallas. She was employed in retail with Oldham's Gift Shop. Mrs. Compton liked to sew and fish. She loved her children and grandchildren. Bessie was a longtime member of the Farley Street Baptist Church.

Her survivors include: son, Charles Harper and his wife Judy of Dallas; daughter, Nedra Lewis and her husband Carl of Waxahachie; sisters, Doris Smith of Tomball and Ruth Rivers of Dallas; grandchildren, Amy Harris and Wayne, Scott Ashton, Jennifer Hoolihan and Grant Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charlie on February 5, 2001, and five sisters.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Jerry Bloomfield, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lewis, Kyle Jessup, Stacey Garner, Wayne Harris, Grant Harper, and Scott Otto. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Burial Park.
