Berta Lee Hazard, a Red Oak resident for more than 70 years, passed away Sunday at Baylor Medical Center Waxahachie. She was born in Lancaster to L. T. and Mamie (Barry) Gleeson. Prior to a short stay at Covenant Place, she moved to Renfro Healthcare Center in Waxahachie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak.

Mrs. Hazard is survived by: her daughter, Barbara Hitt and husband Rex of Ovilla; granddaughter, Susan Hall and husband Ralph of Ovilla; grandson, David Hitt and wife, Debbie of Allen; great grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Hitt of Allen, Angela and Mark Lederman of Arlington, Kimberly Hall of Dallas; great great grandchildren, Hannah and Julia Lederman; sister-in-law, Letha Gleeson of Floresville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd S. Hazard and two brothers, W. C. Gleeson and James E. Gleeson.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Red Oak Chapel with Reverend Allison Paxton officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery.
