Baldemar T. Vargas, Sr., age 68

Mr. Vargas passed away Thursday at his Italy residence. He was born in Golliad County, TX. to Ysmael and Sophia Torres Vargas. He married Olga Perez in November, 1957 in Karnes City, TX. Mr. Vargas worked for Owens Corning in Waxahachie for 21 years. He had suffered with cancer for fourteen years. Mr. Vargas was a Catholic.

Survivors are: his wife, Olga Vargas of Italy; children, Suzanna Vargas Rodrigues of Dallas; Sylvia Ann Vargas Weaver of Italy; Baldemar Vargas, Jr. of Waxahachie; Lionel Vargas of Italy; and Oscar Vargas of Sommerville, SC.; two brothers, Ysmael Vargas of Robstown and Aureliano Vargas of Golliad; sisters, Irene Gomez of Robstown and Guadalupe Moreno of Golliad; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Juan Antonio Vargas; sisters, Estella DeLeon and Marianna Gutirrez; brothers, Raymond and Raul Vargas.

The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening at the Italy Chapel. A Rosary will be said Sunday evening November 7,2004 7pm in the Italy Chapel. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Monday, November 8, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Edison Vela the Celebrant. Pallbearers will be grandchildren; David Weaver, Daniel Weaver, Brian Weaver, Ruben Rodriguez, Jr., Luis Rodriguez, Adam Vargas and Carlos Vargas.Interment will follow in the Italy Cemetery.
