Ayako Barker

January 27, 1931 — March 13, 2015

Ayako Asami Barker, 84 of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 in Waxahachie. She was born January 27, 1931 in Tokyo, Japan. Ayako was a dressmaker extraordinaire with a degree from a designer college in Japan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She raised four daughters alone very well and was a member of the Bristol Missionary Baptist Church. She believed in Jesus and was a strong woman who had the least but gave the most. Ayako was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughers, Terry Jean Benson, Brenda Kay Setzer and her husband, Darrel, Ruth Aline Whatley and her husband, Jimmy and Angela Caryl Lair and her husband, Eddie; by her brother, Miseo Kurosawa; also by her sisters, Suzuko Shina and Keiko Asami; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Ayako was preceded in death by her parents, Zenji and Chika Asami; also by her brother, Teriyaku Asami. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Bristol Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Futral officiating. Interment will follow at the Bristol Cemetery.
