Augustine Rascon Jr., 70 years old, of Waxahachie, TX passed into everlasting life on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019.
He was born to parents Augustine Rascon Sr. and Angelita "Lily" Garza Rascon, on August 10th, 1948 in Seminole, TX. Augustine, also known as "Junior", served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War, January 1969 to January 1971 (SGT E-5) , a part of the 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles"). He was honorably awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Good Conduct Medal (1st award), 2 Army Commendation Medals, 2 Overseas Bars, and Expert (M-14, M-16).Post serving in Vietnam, he continued to serve communities through his own business "A. Rascon Painting" for over 35 years. Although this was how he made his living until retirement, he wholeheartedly volunteered his services partnering with different humanity projects.
He was married to Norma Kennedy for almost 19 years (June 1972- April 1991), who survives him. He and Norma are proud parents of Donovan Rascon (Arlington, TX), Misty RasconSmith (North Hollywood, CA), and Rocky Rascon (Chicago, IL). Misty and Joseph, her husband, have one child, Tymin the golden grandchild. "Junior" was the oldest of his siblings, Jimmy Rascon Sr., Lupe Guerrero, and Ernie Rascon, of whom all have survived him. Augustine was predeceased by his parents, Augustine Rascon Sr.. and Angelita Garza Rascon, as well as his step-mother Sulema.
Our honorable father, calm in spirit, lived a life of humility always thinking of others more often than himself. Whether it was a witty remark during conversation, a quick text, or even a random voicemail including army verbiage, our dad often used his sense of humor when expressing his love and concern. He enjoyed taking walks in the park as well as on his treadmill, and even managed to throw in some bicep reps. He always looked forward to an episode of "Gun Smoke" or "Bonanza", although he admitted he already knew the outcome.
Sometimes a man of few words, but always a man of example. We are truly grateful to have had him as our father.
Dad, you may physically no longer be with us; however, your lessons and examples of peace, honor, and courage remain in our hearts. We love you.
We invite you to celebrate the life of Augustine Rascon Jr.
