Audley Chester Brown, 92 of Waxahachie, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Waxahachie. He was born on December 13, 1915 in Ellis County.
Chester was an avid gardener, enjoying his flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed taking rides and admiring the countryside. He was a long time farmer, coming from a farming family. Chester taught all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to drive, which he was proud of. He was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church and retired from Waxahachie Independent School District where he worked as a bus driver, crossing guard and in the maintenance department. He was a great support for his family which he loved very much. He was known as the best Granddaddy anyone could hope for. Chester will be missed by so many family and close friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Brown of Waxahachie; daughters, Judith Wickliffe Borders and her husband, Tom of Richardson, Linda Jan Wheatley and her husband, Pat of Waxahachie; 4 grandchildren, Sloane Smithey Bush of Richardson, Anissa Smithey Scarbrough of Richardson, Wendy Shinpaugh and husband, Dwayne of Waxahachie and Brent Wheatley and wife, Melanie of Austin. 7 great-grandchildren, Macey, Maddie, Frankie, Avery, Blake, Berkeley, and Bowen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Hillcrest Burial Park with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
