Mrs. Wright, age 77, passed away Monday morning at Baylor Medical Center Waxahachie. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX. to Henry Bowie and Myrtle L. (Stevenson) Barnum. "Miss Ann" graduated from Forreston High School. She married Roy "Buster" Wright on November 8, 1952 in Waxahachie. She was employed with McElroy Brothers Insurance Co. and remained with the same company for 58 years, currently known as Shank Insurance Co. She taught the Young Couples in Sunday School 50+ years at Farley Street Baptist Church and Heritage Baptist Church and was a faithful charter member of Heritage Baptist Church. "Miss Ann" loved to sing; she has sung many special songs at both churches. She was known as the "Community Cat Woman" taking care of fifteen neighborhood cats and three of her own.

"Miss Ann" was presented with the 2000 Outstanding CSR of the Year award by the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives. The State House of Representatives named March 1, 1995 the Ann Wright Special Recognition Day, along with Shank Insurance Agency and the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce on March 1, 1995 recognized "Ann Wright - 50 Years of Service Award". She was a charter member and president of the American Business Women Association. She received the Outstanding Service Award from the Office Education Association of Texas. "Miss Ann" was also a Y.M.C.A. and M. D. A. volunteer.
She is survived by: her husband of 51 years, Roy "Buster" Wright of Waxahachie; three nieces, Karen Fallen, Becky Cotton, and Gail Parsons; one nephew, Henry Barnum; cousin, Dale Stevenson and aunt, Modena Moffett. Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, H. B. Barnum, Jr. one sister, Virginia Nell Graham and an infant sister.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 3 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at Heritage Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Gibson, Reverend J. D. Courtney and Reverend Jack McDaniel officiating. Pallbearers will be John Gibson, Michael Brown, Jerry Young, Tim Holt, Andrew Miller and Dale Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Shank and Jeff Bryant. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
