Ann Bynum

Ann Bynum Ann Ruth Claunch of Maypearl, Texas, affectionately known as Miss Ann, passed away December 24, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas. Ann was born in Maypearl on May 6, 1925 to the late Osce P. Claunch and Willie Dunn of Maypearl. Miss Ann graduated from Maypearl High School in 1942. She continued her education at the University of North Texas with a Major in Music Education and a Minor in Piano and English. In 1948, Ann married Patrick Wilson Witten of Maypearl. Pat preceded Ann in death in 1961. Later in life, Ann married James Bynum of Waxahachie. James preceded her in death in 1999. Miss Ann was a loving mother, wife, rancher, and teacher. She taught for 20 years at Marvin Elementary in Waxahachie. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and a Life Member of the Texas State Teachers Association. Following retirement, she and James managed her farm in Ellis County. Ann's interest in genealogy inspired her to apply and later join the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the DAR in Waxahachie where she held multiple offices. Ann's daughters and granddaughters are currently members of the DAR in Ft. Worth and Waxahachie. Maypearl and Ellis County greatly benefited from Miss Ann's sense of community. She served on the Ellis County Appraisal Review Board; was secretary of the Maypearl Cemetery Committee; a member of the Maypearl Planning and Zoning Board, and treasurer of the Maypearl First United Methodist Church. Miss Ann also shared her talents with the church as the church pianist for over 10 years. Miss Ann is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Witten) Jacobson and her husband, Kelly of Maypearl, Martha (Witten) Johnson and her husband, Wayne of Benbrook. Her grandchildren, Scott Jacobson and wife, Alison (Bingham) of Ft. Worth, Rebecca (Jacobson) Chumley and her husband, Keith of Bryan, Laura Marie Johnson of Ft. Worth, Patrick Johnson and his wife, Mihaela (Moldovan) of Austin. Also of Austin, a great granddaughter, Morgan Adeline Johnson. Of Waxahachie, sister-in-law, Sydney Ann (Witten) Barr and her family Brit, Bev, and Burl Barr. Also surviving Ann are the daughters of her late husband James Bynum: Jamie, Melody, and Madonna; also a nephew of James, Jim Bynum of Forreston, son of Al and Jimmie Faye Bynum. Ann is survived by other close family members as well as many dear and loving friends. Services to celebrate Ann's life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday December 27, 2014 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. John Woodard and Rev. Marvin Mott officiating. Interment will follow at the Maypearl Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maypearl First United Methodist Church.
