Anita Jo Kennedy went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Trisha Harbus and husband, John Harbus, Jim Kennedy and wife, Marianne Kennedy; her grandchildren, Kimberly Kenney, Jeff Harbus, Chris Harbus and wife, Amy Harbus, Daniel Kennedy Bethany Kennedy, David Kennedy, Jonathan Kennedy; and her great grandson, Cashton White.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Kennedy, to whom she was married for nearly 69 years: her mother, Sunshine Morrow; and her brothers, Billy Morrow, Don Morrow.
Anita was the first baby on record born in Chapman Ranch, Texas on November 23, 1928. She moved to Houston a short time later and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1947. Anita and James were married on August 26, 1947. Anita was a homemaker until 1988 when she started working for Kwik Kopy. She then went to work for Tom Clay's State Farm Agency until she retired at the age of 85. Anita was a gracious and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and was very involved in her families' lives. She was an expert seamstress and loved working in her yard. She was full of laughter, loved to joke, and had the gift of encouragement. Everyone she met loved her. Anita served as Director of the GA's at First Baptist Church Houston for 8 years and was very active in W.M.U. along with many other activities in her church. Anita will be greatly missed, but she is wholly healed and living in the presence of her Lord for eternity.
Memorial donations may be made to the Prestonwood Pregnancy Center and or to Sagemont Church missions.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Maypearl City Cemetery with Dr. Marty Brown officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from Noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
