Irvin Andrew Tennery, age 91
March 31, 1915
December 13, 2006

Mr. Andrew Tennery, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Wednesday at the Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born in Italy, TX. to Thomas I. and Luticia (Upchurch) Tennery. He married Lorene Bratcher May 10, 1939, also in Italy. Mr. Tennery was a farmer in his early years and later was a presser at Haggar Slacks retiring in 1970, after thirty years. He started barbering with Olan Dyess at West Side Barber Shop later venturing out on his own, Tennery Barber Shop on Franklin Street. He was a Deacon at Farley Street Baptist Church and Heritage Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball with the kids.

His survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Lorene Bratcher Tennery of Waxahachie; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Ann West and Jerry of Ovilla, Ruth Elaine Prater and Alvis of Waxahachie, and Rachel Kay McEntire and Sam of Waxahachie; brother, T. O. Tennery and wife Lavoice of Waxahachie; sisters-in-law, Jane Vaughan of Waxahachie, Maidie Hyles of Italy, Hilda Ivey of Greenville and Frances Bratcher of Waxahachie; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Thursday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 2 PM Friday, December 15, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Tim Gibson and Brother Jack McDaniel officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry A. West, Phil West, David Lampton, Larry Vaughan, Junior Gladney and Jody Tennery. Interment will follow in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
