Andrew "Andy" Cantu, Jr., 72 of Waxahachie, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007. He was born to Otila Cantu and the late A. O. Cantu on December 31, 1934 in Waxahachie.
Andy was a loving father and was very devoted to his family. He was well respected in the community and affected so many lives in his service to others. He loved the opportunity to help someone and was such a giving person. Andy graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1952 and joined the United States Army in 1953. He worked for Owens Corning in Waxahachie for 13 years and owned and operated Loma Alta. He also worked in the home improvement business and retired from WISD Marvin Campus. From all the individuals that Andy has helped, to so many family members and friends; he will be so missed, but hopefully his giving spirit will live on through the lives that he has touched.
He is survived by his loving mother, Otila Cantu of Waxahachie; daughter, Vicki Dawson and her husband, Troy of Waxahachie; son, David Cantu and his wife, Monica of Austin; daughter-in-law, Nell Cantu of Waxahachie; brothers, Regan Cantu of West, John Cantu and his wife, Susan of Midlothian, Joe Cantu and his wife, Lila of Waxahachie; grandsons, Jacob Andrew Green of Waxahachie, Andres O. Cantu, IV of Waxahachie; granddaughters, Jessica Martinez of Austin, Haley Dawson of Waxahachie, Lyndsey Dawson of Denton; and many numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, A. O. Cantu in 1996; his loving wife, Carolina Cantu in 2001; and his son, Andres O. Cantu, III in 2003.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
