Amy Elizabeth Culley, age 41, passed away Monday morning, October 12, 2015 at her home in Midlothian, Texas after a long battle with cancer. Amy was born June 28, 1974 to Samuel and Linda Williams at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She grew up and was raised with her younger sister Sara in Duncanville, Texas where see attended and graduated from Duncanville High School in 1992. In September 1995, she met her husband Mike, whom she married on May 3, 1997. She continued her education graduating from nursing school at Navarro College in 2003. She went on to get her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from University of Texas at Arlington. She also obtained her certification as an operating room nurse and First Assist license. Amy worked for the Baylor Scott & White health care system for the past ten years. Her love and compassion for patients and co-workers was an inspiration to many. Her love for being a nurse was evident when she became involved with the LEAP Foundation following the earthquake in Haiti. She made multiple trips to Haiti with medical staff to help the people there in need. She participated in multiple Susan G Komen 3 day walks, both as a walker and medical staff. After her diagnosis she began taking part as a participant and team leader in the Undy 5000 walks to benefit the Colon Cancer Alliance and colon cancer research. Though she had cancer, she strived to help other cancer patients by giving doctors vital feedback and creating a video to assist others with managing and living as normal of a life as possible with cancer. She was a wife to Mike, a mother to her 4 boys, and through all the schooling and work made time to raise them in the faith, go to all their games, be team mom and help with Special Olympics. Her boys and grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a deep and compassionate love for her church and church family. She was preceded by her father Samuel McCormick Williams. She is survived by her husband: Mike Culley, sons: Michael, Steven, Brian and Samuel, daughters-in - law: Brandy, Amber and Kendra, 5 grandchildren, her grandfather: R.E. Darling, her step dad and mother: Chuck and Linda Henne, and her sister: Sara Williams. She was also survived and loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday October 18, 2015 at 4 pm at Ovilla United Methodist Church to celebrate her life. The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to one of her charities that she was passionate about.
