Alysa Kirton

Alysa Kirton of Italy went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016 after battling cancer for more than 20 years.

She was born on August 22, 1958, to Dean and Cecelia Bumpus Irvin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Frank Hamilton and Hazel Windham Bumpus, Tom and Aline Finch Irvin; her uncle, Gordon Irvin; and her aunt, Kathryn Fikes.

Survivors include: her husband, Lyall Kirton of Italy; 3 sons, Rob May and Brett Kirton of Italy, Chris May of Cleburne; a step-daughter, Libby (Clayton) Jones of Mesa, Arizona; 2 step-sons, Joey (Laura) Kirton of Italy, Rick Dodd of Mesa; adopted son, Colin Newman of Midlothian; grandsons, Bryson May, Nick and Michael Kirton of Italy, Doug, Greg and Brian Untenburger of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, James (Patty) Irvin of Italy; an uncle, Frank (Gail) Bumpus of Italy; a niece, Jennie (Joe) Chadwick of Milford; two nephews, Jarod (Rachel) Irvin of Ennis and Joseph Irvin of New Mexico; two close friends from college, Dianne Whitfield of Rowlett, Janet McMahon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; several great-nieces and nephews.

Alysa graduated from Italy High School in 1976 as class valedictorian. She attended Tyler Junior College before returning back to her hometown. She retired after 24 years with Ellis County where she worked as administrative assistant for six precincts three county commissioners. Alysa spent the prior 10 years with the Waxahachie Daily Light.
Alysa was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Italy where she worked in various departments. She served as Sunday School Director, Children's Sunday School Director, Women's Ministry Co-Director, taught various children's Sunday School classes, helped establish children's church, worked on the finance memorial and nominating committee. One of the highlights of her life was traveling to Athens, Greece on a mission trip.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

A memorial service to celebrate Alysa's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Central Baptist Church, Italy with Bro. Joseph Barrett officiating.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Central Baptist Church of Italy.
