Alma Parten

Alma Ruth Parten, 94 of Waxahachie passed away at her home on August 08, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Files Valley, Texas on March 06, 1921 to J.D. and Annie Clark Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Ellis County, she attended schools in Midlothian and Waxahachie. She grew up during the Great Depression teaching her the value of things. As a small child she learned quickly what hard work was, tending to the daily chores of farm life from picking cotton to helping her mother with her younger siblings. During WWII she worked at Haggars as a seamstress, after the war she married William H. "Buster" Parten in 1946 and they were married for 58 years until his death in 2004. She was a homemaker as well as a co-owner of Busters Drive In. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Parten, her parents and 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Linda Gale Keith, 1 son: David Parten; Her Grandchildren: Stacey Burleson Tompkins and husband Drew. Melisa Cagle and husband Roby. B.J. Parten and wife Robin, Stephanie Scott and husband Joe, Brittany, Bradley, Tyler and Caleb Parten. Her Great Grandchildren: Brandt and Blake Burleson, Greyson and Griffin Cagle, Allie and Zachary Parten and Shayler and Jackson Scott all of Waxahachie. A dear cousin Ruth Harman of Dale, Texas and her beloved cat Snowey. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Hagee and Rev. Carol Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandt Burleson, Blake Burleson, Drew Tompkins, B.J. Parten, Roby Cagle, Bradley Parten, Tyler Parten and Tres Medlock. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday, August 10, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
