Funeral services for Alliene Ruby Harrison Wilson, 94, will be heald at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie. The Rev. Mike Gilchrist, pastor of South Prong Baptist Church, will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Waxahachie. Almost a lifelong resident of Waxahachie, Alliene passed away peacefully at her home, 508 E. Parks Ave., on Jan. 3, 2013. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday the following week. Born Jan. 11, 1918, in Corbit, TX, she was the daughter of James Adolphus Harrison and Neriah Ararat Caldwell Harrison. Her husband Thomas Green Wilson passed away in 1976 in Waxahachie. Alliene is survived by her only son, John Franklin Wilson, of Georgetown, TX; two granddaughters, Marcy Toppert of Abilene and Sandy Wilson of Dallas; four great grandchildren, Sarah, Austin, Grace and Rebecca Toppert, all of Abilene; two sisters, Margie Quick of Waco and Freddie Dean of Texas City; and a host of much-adored nieces and nephews. A 1936 graduate of Red Oak High School, Alliene moved to Waxahachie as a young woman and had lived here since that time. She was involved passionately with many endeavors through her years in this city, always recognizable by her curly red hair, petite stature and outgoing, loving personality. She worked for several decades and made many wonderful friends at Flexsteel Furniture Mfg.; she belonged to the Rebecca Lodge #381, where she served on the Drill Team and as Noble Grand; and she was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star of Waxahachie. Her passions included sewing, quilting, painting, handwork of all kinds, and reading - perhaps especially reading. Sims Library staff members through the years considered Alliene one of their most devoted and regular patrons. Like many of the things she enjoyed in life, cooking came natural to her and she was good at it. As the eldest girl in a family of seven children, she was often at her mother's side as meals were prepared, and she learned quite young to take over that duty efficiently when needed. Some of her early fondest memories revolved around those growing up years in a big family as well as the years she and Tom spent raising their son John. Alliene doted on her grandchildren, finally able to use her many sewing skills on frilly, lacy dresses and play clothes for "her girls." She considered time spent with her granddaughters as a treasure, often keeping the girls at her home in Waxahachie when their parents were on business or leisure travel. She adored watching her great grandchildren grow up as well. Her presence on this Earth will be sorely missed by many.
