Alice Mercer

Alice Fay Mercer, 85 of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 in Lancaster. She was born to the late James W. and Arrie M. Wafer Culver on April 27, 1925 in Palmer, Texas. Alice was an accomplished seamstress and loved sewing, especially for her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning and helping Henry on their farm. The moments she enjoyed most were spending time with her family, especially Henry and all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Henry Mercer of Waxahachie; her sister, Mattie Elizabeth Caldwell of Ferris; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, 1 brother and also by her twin brother, Ellis Ray Culver. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home of Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
