Alice Whitefield Medford, 96, native of Waxahachie, Texas died in Mason Friday evening. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, November 25 at 11:00 AM at the the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Reverends Jerry Galloway and Kevin Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday November 24. Private graveside services will be held for the family at Bethel in the Whitefield plot.

Alice Margaret Medford was born July 10, 1912 in the Boz community to James William Whitefield and Lula McPherson Whitefield. She grew up on the family farm on land settled by her Great Grandparents in 1859. She was preceded in death by parents, her loving husband of 66 years I. W. Medford, her sisters Rheda Mae Maxwell, Myrtle Barton and a brother the Reverend J. W. Whitefield.

She graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1930 and married I.W. Medford in 1935. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church beginning in the historic Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel. She served faithfully in the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie as a Sunday School teacher, youth counselor, and was active in the United Methodist Women and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardener winning many awards as a member of the Waxahachie Garden Club.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands; Beverly and Peter Mason of Tyler, and Karen and Jim Wuertz of Mason. In addition, Mrs. Medford is survived by five grandchildren; Blaine Mason of Flower Mound, Maura Donelson of Austin, Lt. Jeremy Boyd of San Diego, Ca., Kristin Boyd of Baton Rouge, La., and Jenny Kennedy of Austin, also four great grandchildren; Catherine and Elizabeth Mason of Flower Mound, and Claire and Caroline Donelson of Austin.

She loved life, delighting in the love of her children and grandchildren, be a productive member of her community, and always striving to "a good and faithful servant". She will be greatly missed .

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin, Waxahachie, Texas 75165
