Adalene Hitt

Adalene Levy Hitt, 96, of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 in Waxahachie. She was born in Maypearl to Maurice Cerf Levy and Mabel Price Levy on July 2, 1918. She attended schools in Maypearl and graduated from Waxahachie High School after moving there her senior year. Adalene also attended Trinity University, graduating in 1940. She married Melvin Hitt in June of 1961 and he preceded her in death. Adalene worked for the State Department of Human Resources as a secretary for thirty-eight years in Waxahachie. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by her cousins, Jane and Joe Jarratt, Jr. and family; Janet Tenery and husband, Robert Mayo Tenery, Jr. MD; and their children and their spouses; Charles Dudley Price, Jr and wife, Joyce and family; Charles Dudley Price, III and Patti Elaine Price and their spouses and children; and very special friends and caregivers, Richard and Laurie Todd and Donna Duncan; also longtime friends, Doris and Horace Bratcher and Lee Straley Miller. Adalene was a very kind and gentle lady and will be greatly missed by her family and all of her many friends. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Hagee officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.
